About
Gamesay

gamesay.org

Gamesay is a video game analytics service that tracks how much people are talking about PC and console games. Every day it publishes a score for each game it tracks, called the Gamesay Conversation Index. A higher score means more public conversation about that game. Gamesay calls the public attention a game earns the conversation economy.

The Gamesay Conversation Index measures attention. It does not measure sales, player counts or viewership, and a score is not a count of anything. A game can be widely discussed and sell poorly, and a sales chart will not show that. Gamesay does not publish how the Index is calculated.

Why Gamesay tracks conversation

More video game content is published every year, and all of it competes for the same audience. A game now holds public attention for less time than it used to, and word of mouth carries it less far. Publishers have relied on word of mouth to keep a game selling after launch and to get more out of a marketing budget. Gamesay tracks conversation daily so anyone can see how much attention a game has and how long that attention lasts.

What Gamesay is used for

A publisher, developer, streamer, marketing team or fan of a game can check whether an announcement, trailer or showcase got attention and how long it held. A journalist can put a dated number beside a story. An analyst or investor can compare attention across games, including games with no public sales figures.

Citing Gamesay

Credit Gamesay, give the period the figure covers, and include the through-date shown on the page. Scores for the most recent days can still change, so a figure quoted without its through-date may no longer match the site. The full licence is in the terms.
